Are Valve Emulators worthwhile?

From the Racetech website: Gold Valve Cartridge Emulators make damping rod forks perform like well-tuned cartridge forks. Emulators are tunable valves that sit on top of the damping rods and are held in place with the main springs. This makes them both simple to install and completely tunable for all conditions and rider preferences.

Part number is FEGV S3501 . Make sure you get that exact part number, as some other applications have very similar numbers. FEGV parts are for dirt bikes. FEGV S are for street bikes.

Race Tech may be exaggerating just a bit on the ease of installation, but once they are in, it's pretty easy to take them out for adjustments. See Installing emulators and springs for more on this.

Here are the opinions of some of our members:

  • Valve Emulators are totally, completely awesome. I'm almost tempted to say that one should get the GVE's before the springs...
  • The front is stiffer on smooth roads, yet it takes off the edge on bumps. Riding over rumble strips is like riding over smooth, fresh-paved road. It is a must have in my book.
  • I replaced the springs, put on emulators and WOW. Feels like a real bike now :} On twisty, bumpy roads even the stock front tire feels glued. Going through the corners 10-15mph faster than used to and bike actually goes where you point it. Hands down the best upgrade you can possibly buy for your Ninjette! If I ever get another EX250, this would be THE first upgrade; even before a fuel filter.
